My friend Ian just got back from 9 months of basic training. He is army reserve. My friend Brian who I've known since I was 8 is also going into the Marines. I think about you everyday when I see them. I remember when I first heard that you had passed away. My mom called me down the stairs yelling and crying and I heard Kira crying o n the phone. When she finally got it out we both just fell to the stairs and cried. It was the worst feeling I have ever felt. I don't want to go through it again. I'm scared. What I'm saying is if there is anything you can do just please make sure their okay. Please just watch over them. After you and Adam I don't think I can take anyone else passing away. Thank you.

I miss you so much tonight. Just one of those days. My friend adam died in a car accident last monday. I though about you both all day. I have cried all day. I stopped crying over you being gone then Adam died and now I cry atleast every other day. I remember at both of your services I tried so hard to smile and not cry because neither of you woud have wanted everyone to be sad. Scary thing, me and Adam were talking about you for the first time a week before he died. I have one of Adam's old necklace's. When I feel sad I kiss itand hold it up to the sky thinking about you both. I say "In pace requiescat" alot before I go to sleep (it means may he rest in peace). I may have been young when I met you but you became an important part of my family. You have a part in my everyday life. I read what my mom said about your marine shirt and sweats and cried more than I ever had. I wear them all the time. Oh! I'm doing the 3 day this year! I'm so proud to walk in memory of you and your mom. I'll be walking in memory of Adam too. You guys died within two months of each other. Those will always be the two worse months of my life. I looked up to both of you. Adam was my rock. He kept me balanced. You guys were and always will be my heros. Please give Adam I huge hug for me. Look after him and your mom. I dedicated a page in my art journal to you and adam. it goes over two pages its black and white paint splattered and says "You took them away from me, I don't think I'll ever believe in you". But if there is a god, he better take damn good care of you guys. "I know I'm strong because I make it through everyday without you", that reminds me of you both. It feels like everyday is getting hard without you guys. I love you both more than anything. I'm listening to when your gone, it reminds me of Adam and far away by nickle back reminds me of you. I miss you..

I just wanted to write and tell you that you were on our minds as two big days converged this year. I am thankful for the time you spent as part of our family. I am thankful for the memories and the life lessons. I am sure you had no idea at the time, but you set the bar very high (I know you understand this.) Kelsey wears your Marine sweats and t-shirt all the time. Brandon wears your polo shirts. You cast a large shadow and the mention of your name always brings up stories that make everyone smile!

I watched the end of Forrest Gump today. To me that movie is about love, faithfulness, and finding joy no matter where you in life. That was your most precious gift to all you knew. You brought fun and joy to every room you entered!

As I sit here in Paris, France, I realize that wars have been fought for many, many years.  Yes, it is Veteran's Day here in France as well.  On my recent trip to Normandy, as I looked at the graves of so many that gave their lives, my heart would ache even more knowing that it was personal now.  You have been in my thoughts every day.  I guess it's hard when I walk past your bedroom.  Yes, it is even here in Paris.  You will always have a room in the house, no matter where I go.  Thank you for all you did.  Thank you for who you were.  You put smiles on so many peoples faces.  You were the strong one, the one that would put everything into perspective.  Thank you for all you gave.  We will never be able to repay you.  The world is a better place because of people like you.  I hope you and your mom are having a good time.  I miss you Rich!

Life is crazy! I can't believe it's been a year! All day I've been going in and out of emotion! I went to holler at you and mom where your  body rests this morning.... I know ya'll aren't there, but for some reason it's almost unbearable to stand there and really know that all this is real! Me and Caleb where talking about how from the moment we woke up this morning, the tears just wouldn't stop! FINALLY they started to, and of course Paula puts up that slideshow so now I'm a basket case again! Thank GOD for Paula!!! My earth angel! Thank you for bringing her in my life! You always were such a good judge of character! I'm soooo happy that you got the chance to be inlove and with such an awesome girl! I'm hoping this year will be much better than the last.... it has to be! This is a terrible "First Without". The first time your birthday has arrived and you are not here. I remember every birthday gift Kira gave you. She agonized for so long each time. I remember setting up your first ipod! I had no idea what i was doing but somehow we figured it out. I remember the watch she gave you and the ring. Dave found the ring and has promised to send it back to Kira. I am trying to tell myself that this year you will be with your mother for your birthday. And there is some sense of peace in that thought. But the selfish thought, the one that overwhelms me with sadness is that you are not going to be here on what was once a very happy day for everyone who loves you!

You are missed every day! And today, on what should have been your 23rd Birthday, you are missed even more!
