What a beautiful man. Thank you for your son's service to our country. Even though my son was only 5 1/2 weeks old when he became an angel I understand  the turmoil you are going through. There is nothing harder than losing a child at any age. Someday we will see them again and what a blessed day that will be. My thoughts, prayers and condolences to you and your family. Close

POM'S

(Pissed off Mom's)

I AM SO SORRY HE DIED!

We should never outlive our children
This war took two of mine
and I am angry, very angry.
And will never be the same
They die once we die everyday

If they send all of the POM'S who have lost their children, over to fight this war- it would be over in days.
Deal with us Marine Mothers  and you better run, you better hide!
They have seen no fury as a mother lioness protects her pride
As I have nothing left to loose
and I am angry and now alone.

Peace be with you

God bless the family of this fallen hero.  My son, Capt Justin Peterson, USMC, gave his life for our country on October 1, 2006.  Only those of us who have walked this path can understand the combination of grief and pride that we live with each day.  Please know that there is another family that shares what your family is feeling and together we will never forget! To serve our country takes a caring and brave soul. And those who do seem to be always almost forgotten. They should be remembered with the respect they so deserve.
I have two cousins in the Navy (one fulltime) , another who just joined and a friend in the National Guard. And they all feel it a honor to serve.

I am so gratefull that you were the one friend in Phillip's life that he could always trust and depend on. Your home was a haven for him of always love and acceptance.  When I first heard of your death a mind picture came to me and a general peace as I pictured your Mother enveloped in light with her arms surrounding you and your smile as big and bright as ever.  We will miss you dearly.  Continue to watch over Phillip and guide him along the way. You are now with God and all that have gone before you.  I will see you again. Close

A great cousin!  / Tam Owen (cousin)
Richey was a great person and a great cousin. Here in Nashville we always planned a "cousin's night" when he was going to be in town. Normally, my children don't get to attend cousin's night (as they are first cousins once removed), but when Richey was in town, they got to be a part. Richey was awesome with them and he was 8,10,12 and 14 years older than them.

I'll never forget the time we went to Destin to the family condominium and Glo and Richey had not left yet. My son, Chase, and Richey had such a good time at the beach that they spent a couple more days in Destin with us!

I have wonderful memories of Richey that I will never forget. I'm thankful that he is in heaven with Glo, Momma B and Daddy B. What hope there is for all Christians that we will be together again.

Thank you Richey for your ultimate sacrifice! I love you cuz!

Please know how Deeply Sorry I am, for the loss of
this Brave Marine,
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly,
and as a sister, who has lost a brother to war,
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain
that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, seems to surface
through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
Ever so softly and slowly, time does heal.

May this Young Hero, Rest Safely, in the Loving Care of God and know that he Will Never Be Forgotten.
I pray that the Peace of God will be with the Quill family.

I am the sister, of such a Young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

May you find Peace in knowing the love and memories you have, will remain in your heart forever and that this Country Will Not Forget Richard's Sacrifice.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Close

Fond Memories  / Ron And Joan McCarty (friends of family )
We were shocked and saddened at the news of Richey's passing.

Our prayers are with the family and friends.  My God comfort you and give you peace.

We attended church with the Quills at Calvary in Dunwoody for several years prior to our moving to AZ. in the fall of 1996.
We considered them dear friends to our family.

Joan has fond memories of teaching Richey in the Wed. night children's program at Calvary when he was 3/4 years old.  He was one of her favorites, probably a teacher's pet, and was a cute, shy, great boy.

God be with you.

Ron and Joan McCarty

Words can't express how I feel.  All I can say is that Richey will be missed by everyone that knew him. We all were looking forward to the next time we'd see him here on earth. We may be sad now, but family and friends just think of how sweet it's going to be the next time we see that smile :)

That little face - I can't stop thinking about that little face.  I still pinched your cheeks even after you became a grown man, because you were always little Reech to me.  I was so proud of what you had become.  My pain is deep, it is real, but I find some comfort knowing that you are where there is no more pain, no sorrow, no war.  I will never forget all the times you crashed at my place in Nastyville, Tennishoe and hung out with all of us when you were probably too young to be doing so!  But I am so glad to have those memories and will cherish them forever, until we meet again!  Thank you for blessing my life in so many ways.  I love you my little REEEECH!!!!  Close

To all the Quill family I am so sorry for your loss. The memorial service was such a beautiful tribute to Richeys life and after at my son's David's concert when I got to talk with some of Richey's school and Marine buddies.....
How muched he was loved! I will never forget Merrill and Courtney how I felt as David sang Richey's favorite song that night. So proud!
God bless you all in your time of sorrow.

Love,

The Fallen
Written by Andrea Senter

They never thought when they left here
their families they'd see no more
No one dares to think about
The high price of such a war.

If you asked them why they did it
They'd say because it was right
Someone has to stand up
And someone has to fight

A world away they defend our cause,
as we tuck our kids in bed.
Some give all for all of us,
And somewhere tears will be shed.

They do not ask for fame or fortune
Just that we recognize
We are here, free, today,
Because the fallen have paid the price.

~THANK YOU RICHARD~

I lost my brother Marine Cpl. Rusty Washam February 14, 2006 in Iraq by a suicide bomber he was only 21. People keep saying it will get easier as time goes by its almost been a year since we lost Rusty but it feels like yesterday. I will keep your family in my prayers. May God Bless you and help heal your Broken Hearts from this huge loss.
